Sylvia St. James began her internationally renowned recording career with Legendary Jazz Masters George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Hugh Masekela, Jeff Lorber, (It’s a Fact Album “You’re Love has Got Me”duet with Arnold McCuller), Harry Connick Jr (This Christmas), Ronnie Laws (Friends & Strangers, Flame), Hubert Laws, Roy Ayers, Side Effect, Pop Jazz R&B (Fantasy Records), Queen Ida etc.
She has also written and recorded with Jazz Trombonist Wayne Henderson of the Legendary Jazz Crusaders and co-wrote “Mysterious Maiden” recorded by Wayne Henderson and Chico Hamilton. Miss Sylvia St. James co-wrote with Jazz guitarist, Gabor Zabo (“Magic Mystic Face's" and “Gloomy Day”). She has also recorded with British Pop-Rock Royalty such as Bernie Taupin and Sir Elton John on Bernie’s first solo album, "Tribe" produced by the award-winning artist, songwriter, and producer Martin Page. She has also done live performances with Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Nora Jones, Susan Marshall and Polly Parsons for the Gram Parsons Project. Sylvia also began her live Las Vegas performances with Hollywood Royalty Connie Stevens and Ike and Tina Turner.
In addition to her song writing collaborations, Sylvia St. James has Movie Credit with Mark Ruffalo, in the production of Sympathy for Delicious. She was also honored to be interviewed in the recently released award-winning documentary “Digging for Weldon Irvine” by Award Winning Producer/ Director Victorious DeCosta.
Expanding on her traditional music roots, innovative, artistic horizons, and continuing her musical Ministry Vision, Miss Sylvia will present her New Inspirational Venture, “Jesus Loves Jazz”. (Progressive Praise for Classy, Sassy Sundays!) The Jesus Loves Jazz Ensemble Performance Experience will Uplift, Engage, Enlighten and Inspire Audiences in Las Vegas, Nevada, Los Angeles, California, Nation Wide and Around the World. Each Performance will feature an Extraordinary Blend of Traditional Chicago Gospel, New South Roots, and New Orleans Sassy Jazz Styled Fruits, with the Soul-Stirring , Smooth Jazz, Contemporary Artistry of Progressive Praise, Embracing Multi-Cultural Rhythms, Melodies and Instrumentation.
Though Non-Denominational and Cross-Cultural in essence, our performance and presentation mission has always been to Uplift, Engage, Enlighten, Entertain, and Inspire our Audiences with Genuine Worship Experience while maintaining Devotion to the Gospel of "Yeshua HaMashiach" Our Lord Jesus Christ.
